Frequently Asked Questions
Below are answers to some of the most common questions about booking, pricing, tattoo care, and our studio policies. If you have a question that isn’t covered here, feel free to contact us.
-
How do I book a tattoo at Forever Bound? Each artist manages their own bookings. Visit the Tattoo Artists page to find the artist whose work you like and contact them directly through their booking form.
-
Do I need to book in advance, or do you accept walk-ins?We primarily work by appointment, but walk-ins may be available depending on the day. If you’d like a walk-in appointment, we recommend calling ahead or visiting the studio to check availability.
-
What should I do before my tattoo appointment? To make sure you're prepared for your session, we recommend: ✔ Getting a full night’s sleep. ✔ Eating a meal beforehand to keep your blood sugar stable. ✔ Staying hydrated. ✔ Avoiding alcohol or blood-thinning medications for at least 24 hours before your appointment. ✔ Wearing comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the tattoo area.
-
Can I bring a friend to my appointment? You’re welcome to bring a friend for support, but due to space and health considerations, we ask that you limit it to one guest.
-
Can I get a tattoo if I’m under 18?No. UK law requires you to be at least 18 years old to get a tattoo, even with parental consent. We will ask for valid photo ID before your appointment.
-
What happens if I need to reschedule or cancel my appointment? If you need to reschedule, please contact your artist as soon as possible. Deposits are non-refundable, but they may be transferred to a new appointment if rescheduled within the required notice period.
-
Do you do cover-up tattoos? Some of our artists specialise in cover-ups. It depends on the size, colour, and placement of your existing tattoo. It’s best to book a consultation to discuss your options.
-
Do you offer numbing cream? We don’t apply numbing cream in the studio, but if you want to use one, please discuss it with your artist beforehand. Some numbing creams can affect how the skin takes ink, so it’s important to check first.
-
How do I take care of my new tattoo?Your artist will provide detailed aftercare instructions, but general guidelines include: ✔ Keeping the tattoo clean and dry. ✔ Applying fragrance-free lotion or ointment as recommended. ✔ Avoiding sun exposure and soaking in water for at least two weeks. ✔ Not picking or scratching at peeling skin.
-
How long does it take for a tattoo to heal? Most tattoos take 2-4 weeks to fully heal on the surface, but deeper layers of skin may continue healing for several months.
-
Can I go swimming or to the gym after getting a tattoo?Avoid swimming, saunas, and excessive sweating for at least two weeks to prevent infection and fading.
-
Can I bring my own design?Yes! If you have a specific design in mind, bring reference images or ideas to your consultation, and your artist will work with you to create a custom piece.
-
Do you offer custom designs or just flash tattoos? We offer both! Each artist creates custom tattoos based on your ideas, and some artists also have pre-drawn flash designs available to be tattooed as they are.
-
Do tattoos hurt?Pain levels vary depending on placement, size, and personal tolerance. Areas with more bone (ribs, hands, feet) tend to be more sensitive, while areas with more muscle or fat (thighs, arms) are generally less painful.
-
Can I get a tattoo if I’m pregnant or nursing? No, we do not tattoo clients who are pregnant or breastfeeding for safety reasons.
-
Will my tattoo fade over time? All tattoos fade slightly over time, but how much depends on factors like sun exposure, skin type, and aftercare. Black & grey tattoos tend to age better than very light or watercolour-style tattoos. Proper aftercare and sun protection will help maintain your tattoo’s quality.
-
How much do tattoos cost?Pricing varies based on the artist, size, detail, and placement of the tattoo. Each artist will provide a price estimate during the consultation.
-
Do you require a deposit?Yes, a deposit is required to secure your booking. The amount will be confirmed by your artist and is deducted from the final price of your tattoo. Deposits are non-refundable but may be transferable if rescheduling within the required notice period.
-
What payment methods do you accept? We accept cash. There is a cash machine 1 minute away from the studio.
-
Do you do cosmetic tattoos (e.g., eyebrows, lips)? No, we focus on body art tattoos and do not currently offer cosmetic tattooing.
-
Do you sell gift vouchers?Yes! Gift vouchers are available in the shop and can be used toward any tattoo session.
-
What should I do if I have an issue with my tattoo after it heals? If you have any concerns about your tattoo during the healing process, contact your artist directly. If a touch-up is needed, they will advise on the best approach.
